Smelly Garbage Disposal

Tip of the week #16
Have a smelly garbage disposal? Here's a tip that may help. Some of you might have other methods, be sure to share them with us.
Over time your garbage displosal may begin to acquire a special smell. This is similar to what happens in your teenagers room when he forgets to bring out his smelly socks.
Most of us don't enjoy either smell so the trick is how to eliminate the smell and remove the cause. For your teenager it's easy, remove the smelly socks and apply some deodorizer and you are set.
To eliminate the smell from your disposal first pour half a cup of baking soda into your disposal, followed by about one cup of white vinegar. Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes. While you are waiting heat up about a gallon of water to just below a boil and pour this down the disposal drain.
This combo should help clear the disposal and drain and help neutralize anything that gets left behind and should take care of you until the next time.
